Loveland, Colorado – That’s the ski resort right? Not quite. A lot of people also have that conception ñ but this article is here to set this straight. While there is indeed a ski area called Loveland, that said area is located more than a hundred miles away from the actual Loveland town. There are ski slopes near Loveland (the city), but it isn’t Loveland (the ski slopes). Now that we have that all cleared out, we can now talk about Loveland the city.

A Little History On Loveland

Originally a railroad town for the Colorado Central Railroad lines, Loveland was founded back in 1877. It was named such to honor the president to the railroad line, William Loveland. The area remained an agricultural area for plenty of years and produced plenty of beets and cherries.

A Look At Loveland and The Surroundings

Loveland, Colorado is situated right at the foothills of the Colorado Rocky mountains, and offers residents with plenty of outdoor activities. The rich agricultural lands that surround the city offer plenty of space to raise horses (and ride on them, too), hike, bike and just see the sights. Active people will find a lot of things to do while communing with nature. Skiing, camping and hiking are just a few things that people can do in Loveland and the nearby Rocky Mountain Park. Next to Fort Collins, Colorado (which is also it’s neighbor), Loveland is the second most populous city in the county of Larimer. It is around 46 miles or 40 minutes away from Denver.  Loveland is quite close to Fort Collins, Colorado that they are even considered as a single metropolitan area by the United States government.

As of the 2000 census,  the city of Loveland has almost 50,608 people, making it the fourteenth most populous city in the whole state of Colorado. There are 19,741 households in the city. The average size of each household is 2.55 and the average size of each family is 3.01.

The Loveland and the Fort Collins metropolitan area is a wonderful place to live in, and has been cited by plenty of award giving bodies such as Money, USA Today and more. Loveland has plenty of artists, drawing an art museum, three foundries and an annual sculpture show every august. Loveland is known to be conservative when it comes to politics, and has a large population of Evangelical Christians.

Located along US 34, Loveland receives plenty of pass- through tourists, especially those on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. Loveland is also a common stopover for plenty of commuters going to and coming from plenty of directions like business and employment locations in Denver, Westminster and Boulder; as well as the college towns of Greeley, Fort Collins and Boulder.

Of course, you can’t take away the whimsical out of Loveland, and this is very evident during the month of February. Every February, the city has its own remailing service where people can send a Valentine through the Loveland Post office. That way the person receiving the valentine receives a card straight from the place of love, which is ñ where else ñ Loveland.

So if the wonderful appeal of Loveland has gotten to you by now, then you might be thinking of moving there. If you are then there’s no need to worry because there are plenty of homes for sale in Loveland Colorado. There are about 1000 homes listed for sale ant any given time. Summer sales are higher with almost 1100, but sales can fluctuate during the winter months and can go as low as 900 listings. All the same, there are still plenty of houses that you can choose from.
